July 1st - July 4th, 2024, Münster, Germany

The SPP 2171 Advanced Summer School on ”Dynamic Wetting of Flexible, Adaptive, and Switchable Substrates" will be taking place in Münster, Germany. This event, designed for both PhD candidates and experienced researchers, delves into the dynamic interplay between liquids and a range of substrates, from biological to synthetic. It’s an essential area of study that merges the mechanics of nature with technological innovation.

Event Focus

Our summer school delves into wetting dynamics across diverse contexts both theoretical and experimental — from biological intercellular processes to innovative synthetic materials like switchable surfaces, and the nuanced behaviours of gels and polymer brushes. This comprehensive exploration aims to bridge fundamental research with real world applications, fostering a deeper understanding of wetting phenomena. Organised by a team of PhD students, the program especially welcomes junior researchers, offering a prime opportunity for engagement, learning, and professional growth. However, the workshop is explicitly open to all interested students and young researchers, not restricted to members of the SPP 2171. The school combines long tutorial lectures with shorter presentations by an interdisciplinary group of experts across the fields of physico-chemical hydrodynamics, statistical physics, surface science, chemical physics and various engineering disciplines. A poster session allows participants to present and discuss their results.

More details can be found on the website of the SPP. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the SPP manager.
